The first trip of the year
|
|
At last, the sun is back and I have time to take the bike out of town. Sorry some of the pics are in B&W, next time we'll be more careful.
Mayka join me in a visit to the renown English "Mad Cow Country", and we did saw dying horses and crazy cows, and very much alive donkeys, but this is another story.

We visit
Salisbury Cathedral, probably the finest medieval building in Britain. Built in one phase from about 1220 to 1258 the Cathedral has the highest spire, the best preserved Magna Carta and Europe's oldest working clock.
The tea cost 65 p and the pints under a pound, so we obviously went for the pint.

Then we went to
Beaulieu, (you should pronounce it as "Buli") at the heart of the
New Forest, a forest that is so new that it does not look as a proper forest, or at least a finish one.
It was full of "F&M" and is so rural England, that you cannot find anything to eat at 5 PM, other than an English tea of course.
Beaulieu Gardens
Take a a step back in time and return to the 1800s as you explore the delights of The Victorians' Garden. Discover the informal "Wilderness" Garden, dating back to the 1700s, where the winding walkways give the impression of being lost in a magical wood. Or enjoy the "Long Walk" which takes you on meandering pathways beside the Monks Mill Pond where you can enjoy lovely views across to the village of Beaulieu.

Our trip ended in
Bucklers Hard, a nice little harbour and yard where one of my clients is based

And this is near the best Pub (or at least the one we found) in
Acton, recommended for Foot-ball lovers and non lovers.
