I have also developed European style design Concepts for various American hotel chains including:
As a contemporary furniture designer my work has been displayed at the Milan Furniture Fair and at the ICFF in New York. My work has also been featured in numerous magazines and journals such as Blue Print, Wall Paper, Elle Decoration, Paris Match, etc.
Some of my pieces of furniture are produced by recycling items found in the street or purchased second-hand. Using this basic structure the furniture is transformed into a new design delivering a new value, complete with a new functionality. My inspiration comes from inexpensive plastic toy sets. From which I integrate their playful simplicity and child-like qualities into my own designs.
At the present, my furniture design is more related to specific pieces for
Bars, Restaurants and casegoods for Hotels.
As a design consultant I have worked for Metropolitan Project Shop, a firm of architect and designers based in London. My briefs have included developing and designing a variety of different projects along with a design team and to source all furniture, furnishes, fabrics, lighting and materials. Liasing with manufacturers and suppliers, producing sample boards and schedules whilst working within budget and time constraints were also amongst my roles.
I also work as a freelance buyer for el Transformista, a well known supplier to the Spanish film industry, architectural practices and interior design companies, which specialise in 20th Century Design. Addition to being a shop, El Transformista is used by Pedro Almodovar and Alejandro Almenabar amongst other Spanish film directors when sourcing props and effects for their films.
Throughout this period I have operated with freedom to make purchases, and also working within a specified client requirement brief.
During the last fifteen years I have acquired a variety of skills through experience
in a number of fields within the design sector. My work in the fashion industry, where
I set up my own fashion label and shop, means that I have a strong ability to
understand the development of trends and make accurate prediction to the future.
Furthermore, my work as a stylist and art director for interior design magazines
enable me to clearly visualise objects and identify their key features. This combination
of experiences means that I consider retail buying from different perspectives, allowing me to deliver an extremely saleable range of items for customers.
Using both my own designs and those of others, I was responsible for all details of clothing display from the shop window and the store layout through to the preparation of models for my own fashion shows.
I worked for several years as a picture editor for a range of Interior Design Magazines in Spain. My main role was to select different interiors varying from houses to offices, and from bars to restaurants. Art directing a photographer I selected specific shots and composed the styling. Once the shoot was complete it was my role to act as picture editor for the completed images within the magazine.
Acted as art director / head stylist for a number of TV commercials. Liasing with the director, the producer, the lighting design and camera operators. It was my job to compose all objects within shot so that all possible image could be attained.
